Watford chairman quits

Posted by news desk in Local News, 1st December 2008, 2:33pm

Watford chairman, Graham Simpson has resigned from his role at the club's Extraordinary General Meeting.

A spokesperson, commented on the club website: "Graham Simpson, the chairman of Watford Leisure, has resigned from the Board with immediate effect. Andrew Wilson, currently a non-executive director of the company, will become chairman on an interim basis."

Mr Simpson had been chairman of the club since September 2002 and his decision to quit Watford comes just days after his new management team, which includes Brendan Rodgers and Frank Lampard Snr, managed their first game in charge.

In November, both manager Aidy Boothroyd and life president Elton John left the club, and a new management team was put in place.

The Hornets currently find themselves in 20th position in The Championship and face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night in the Carling Cup.
