Hertfordshire Music Service is fine tuning preparations to host the UK's 4th Taiko Festival in June.

Taiko drumming, which originates from Japan, combines energetic percussion with highly-choreographed dance and martial arts moves.

The 4th UK Taiko Festival, to be hosted by Hertfordshire County Council's Music Service in partnership with Exeter-based Kagemusha Taiko, will take place on June 27th and 28th at the Watersmeet Theatre, Rickmansworth.

Festival highlights include performances from professional taiko players Joji Hirota and the Taiko Drummers (27th) and the multiple award-winning Kagemusha Junior Taiko (28th), with performances from youth and community taiko groups from locations as far as Edinburgh and Penzance. A number of taiko school and community ensembles from local Hertfordshire schools will also be performing.

Details on workshops and other activities will be available from www.hertsmusicservice.org.uk and www.taikofestival.org.uk.

Tickets for the festival events are available from Watersmeet Theatre box office on 01923 711063.
