Posted by news desk in Local News, 26th June 2008, 3:20pm

David Francis, 84, from Kitters Green, Abbots Langley, is the current President and Chairman of the RAFA Abbots and Kings Langley branch, having been a member for 37 years.

For his charity work and for helping ex-servicemen, Mr Francis, a former navigator, has been awarded the highest honour of the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).

He is now one of five people from across the country to receive the Association's National Presidential Certificate.

Mr Francis spent four years in active service during World War Two, and a further ten years in the Voluntary Reserves.

He then spent 20 years, from 1962 to 1982, working with 2F Watford Air Training Corp and in later years combined this role with his position with RAFA.

Mr Francis will be presented with his award at the RAFA National Conference in Bournemouth next May, and has no plans to stop his work with the Association.
