Hertfordshire County Council has held an awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of staff working in adult care services.

Awards were given out to commend the success of Hertfordshire’s carers, who were acknowledged for gaining NVQs in a range of levels over the past 18 months, including health and social care and management.

Specialist diplomas in deaf and blind studies, post qualification awards for social workers and degrees in social work and occupational therapy were also awarded at a ceremony attended by 75 people at County Hall, Hertford, earlier this month.

Sally Newton, executive member for adult care and health, said: "As a carer myself, I know what a difficult job it can be so I'm delighted that our staff are getting the recoginition they deserve for their hard work."

In the past 18 months, 133 people have been awarded NVQs, 27 received post qualifications and one awarded status as an approved mental health professional.
