Good advice for tenants
Following the recent Avenues editorial article (10th February edition), outlining a number of government proposals for the private rented sector, Mrs Susan Hughes-Thomas MARLA President Elect of ARLA confirms that its good advice for tenants to choose agents who belong to the professional body The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) when considering properties to rent.
Estate Agents can only join ARLA if they are trained to the required standard, have Professional Indemnity Insurance, have Client Money Protection, are registered with a Tenancy Deposit Protection scheme, and perform to an industry regulated Code of Conduct. Invariably this will mean a more efficient and smoother service for tenants who can be confident in their ARLA agent.
Mrs Hughes-Thomas, proprietor of Home Management Bushey said ‘I would recommend above all others, our own independent agency which has been established since 1986, and has a wealth of experience and local knowledge, but I am sufficiently confident of the integrity of agents who belong to ARLA to promote the ‘brand’.
For more information, visit the ARLA website, www.arla.co.uk, and look out for agents who display the logo when looking to be a landlord or a tenant.
