Local councils arrange energy performance certificate meeting for landlords
Watford Borough Council, Dacorum Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council, have organised a free meeting for all private landlords to attend and learn more about energy performance certificates and their effect.
The meeting will be held from 7pm, with refreshments from 6.30pm on Wednesday 18 June at 7pm in the colosseum (pictured), Rickmansworth Road, Watford, WD17 3EX. As well as presentations about energy performance certificates and energy efficiency measures, discounts and advice, representatives from housing benefits, the Eastern Landlords Association and National Landlords Association will be present to answer questions before and after the meeting.
Graham Everett, private sector housing officer at Watford Borough Council, said: “The energy performance certificates rank the energy efficiency of a property and suggests recommendations for improving the rating.
“The certificate is similar to the version that is required when selling a domestic property, except that in the case of lettings it is valid for ten years.
“It is worth noting that Trading Standards will be able to enforce a fine of £200 on any landlords who do not provide a certificate,” Mr Everett went on to say.
